Panama City: orientation and trip preparation

Panama City sits near the Pacific entrance to the Panama Canal. Casco Viejo and modern districts offer contrasting urban settings.

What to check here

In a large city, start with your daily route. Two addresses can produce very different commutes. Check transfers, the final walk, noise outside the windows and space to work at home.

Neighbourhood, housing and daily routes

Compare two actual addresses, not two attractive listings. Map each route to groceries, your workspace and transport. Visit in the morning and evening. Check daylight, noise, ventilation and connectivity in the accommodation, and record which expenses are included.

A budget for a trial stay

List housing, bills, connectivity, groceries, transport and other recurring expenses monthly. Keep travel, baggage, temporary accommodation and setup purchases separate. Record a refundable deposit separately as money you need available even if it is later returned.
