Before you go: list your questions
Choose two neighbourhoods and several addresses. List what you want to test: commute, noise, connectivity, groceries and walking spaces. Leave ordinary weekdays in the schedule. Sightseeing alone cannot answer questions about daily life.
During the stay: repeat an ordinary day
Walk to groceries and transport, try working from the intended location and return to the neighbourhood in the evening. Record actual spending and travel time. Inspect accommodation at the hours when you would live and work there.
Afterwards: compare your notes
For each essential need, mark suitable, unsuitable or still unknown and add an observation. Do not average away a critical drawback with pleasant impressions. If the main question remains unanswered, try another area or a focused follow-up check.
